And all those things we love doing come with equipment: beach chairs, umbrellas, coolers, gardening tools, sports gear, outdoor cushions, barbecue supplies, bicycles and more.

Then there’s everything happening inside the house — groceries, cookware, linens, cleaning products, shoes, bags, children's belongings and the collection of appliances that somehow keeps growing.

The question isn't “Will I need storage?”

Think About Storage Before You Build

Here’s something we always encourage homeowners to consider:

Don't wait until the house is finished to figure out where everything will go.

Storage should be part of the plan from the beginning.

When designing your kitchen, think beyond beautiful countertops and cabinetry. Where will the air fryer go? The blender? The coffee maker? The big stock pot you only use when the whole family is coming over?

A well-planned pantry can be a game changer.

Bedrooms are another big one. Built-in wardrobes can make excellent use of available space while keeping everything neat and easy to access.

And don't forget those spaces we often overlook — laundry areas, hallways, under the stairs, garages and even awkward corners.
